What was your health and fitness like before starting the Fernwood online program?

Prior to starting my 28 Day Breakthru I used to talk myself into failing before I even tried. I am a mum with three children; I work and go to uni. I just felt like I had nothing because all my energy went into my everyday lifestyle.

But now I go to the gym, I eat well and I'm full of energy ...who says you need coffee! I used to run around with my children and be puffed, but now I can jog on a treadmill, take cardio classes and I can keep up with my children. I'm achieving what I have set out to achieve for myself. Now my mindset is, “I can do this! I’ve got this!”

What was your ‘light bulb’ moment - the decision that drove you to do the program?

I was talking to my nine-year-old daughter about her PE class at school. She was explaining how they have to eat right and exercise to stay healthy. She then turned to me and said, ‘That’s nothing you have to worry about mum, you’re always going to be my chubby mummy.’ For the first time in my life I cried about my weight and my lifestyle and I knew I had to change things for myself, not for anybody else.

Why did you choose Fernwood and the 28 Day Breakthru over other gyms or programs?

I joined previous gyms in my area a few years ago, I would walk in and people would just stare and whisper and make me feel crappy about myself. In August this year I was watching TV and the ad for Fernwood came on. I thought, “That’s it, that’s the place I need to be.” I walked through the Fernwood Toowoomba doors for the first time and I was greeted with the warmest welcome. Shellie sat me down and talked about the 28 Day Breakthru and I thought, “Wow, I get nutritional advice, plus I have a meal planner and my shopping list is written up for me.” I knew this was going to change my life for the better.

What was or has been the most challenging thing about the program?

Being a mum that works and studies, it was hard to find time to go to the gym. The first week was hard but I worked around everything and I did it. I would go the gym between finishing work and school pick up time – that hour makes a difference.

What has been the biggest thing you have learnt thus far?

Eating right and exercising makes you feel amazing without even knowing it!

What do you think was your key to success?

Determination!!!!! I was determined to start living my life right.

How has losing weight, getting fit and being healthy changed your life?

It’s changed my life for the better. Even though I've still got a little way to go, I couldn’t see my life without staying healthy and fit.

Did you find the meal plans easy to follow?

Some were hard but majority were definitely easy.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about joining Fernwood or doing the online program you participated in?

Do it!!! Don’t hold back. Fernwood gives you amazing support in the gym and online support from people who are participating in the program. The Fernwood team gives you all the motivation in the world – they even would comment on my posts!
